Watching families grow...
I’ve known Alexandra for many years — she’s also a wedding photographer in the Niagara region, and we’ve worked together countless times. I’ve had the pleasure of documenting her family for a long time, even before her boys were born. It’s always such an honour to watch friends’ families grow but it's so special to be asked to document it.
A perfect fall day...
I typically photograph this family in the fall and the images are some of my favourites year after year. I don’t know how we always get so lucky, but it’s always the perfect fall day — somewhere between crisp and cool, with just the right amount of leaves on the ground and still on the trees. The colours in these images are just so stunning with the frosty greens and pops of red and orange.
Wardrobe is everything
I don’t know how she manages to do it, but Alex styles the perfect looks for her family every single year — and even with a new addition, she always nails that coordinated (but not matching) vibe. Even with two looks for mom! I offer styling consultations for all my clients, but this lady truly has an eye for what works.
Thoughtfully choosing pieces with complementary colours, a variety of textures and subtle patterns can completely elevate family photos. Mixing tones within the same palette, layering knits or linens and adding small patterns sparingly helps create visual interest without feeling busy. When everyone coordinates instead of matches, the images feel timeless, cohesive and full of personality.
